My Version of the Crock-Pot Hot Cocoa
" There's nothing good about having a nice cup of Hot Cocoa on a Cold Winter Day. Says NO ONE."
~ Toyosi Osinowo
This past weekend was a cold one in Houston and I was not feeling it. Yes, I love winter because I get to dress warm and fancy but that cold front caught me of guard. No Bueno! But then again, it is always good to look on the bright side of things, right? Well, that is exactly what I did.
Cold weather + The Crock-Pot + A lil' bit of this and that = Some good ol' HOT COCOA.
I purchased the ingredients over the weekend but did not get to make the recipe until last night. If you live in Houston, then you know that it was nothing close to cold last night but I was having some guests over and decided to get in the holiday spirit and still make it.
Besides, it was so easy to make. I love having a crock-pot for obvious reasons. It makes my life so easy and gives me room to explore different recipes without having to be on my feet in kitchen for hours. Below are the Ingredient list and directions. Enjoy!
1 Can of 14 oz. Condensed Milk
1 cup of Cocoa
2 teaspoons of Vanilla (you can add a dash of nutmeg if you like)
2 Cups of Milk Chocolate Chips
1 Cup of Heavy Cream (not pictured, oops)
2 quarts of Milk
Pour all the ingredients listed above in the crockpot
Whisk and cover Crock-Pot
Set it to low for 2 1/2 hours
Go about your business :-)
2 1/2 hours later, your home should be smelly amaaazing. The festive mood is set. Now lets have some HOT COCOA!!!!!
TIME TO SERVE IT UP!
Simply scoop some into your favorite mug
Add some whip cream (or marshmallows if you prefer)
Add your favorite toppings. The possibilities are endless. You could add some more chocolate chips, coconut flakes, crushed peppermint, candy canes, caramel, etc. I chose to keep it simple by adding just the whipped cream and crushed peppermints and let me tell you, it was yummilicious!!!!! Don't believe me, check out the pics below. :-)
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I did. Please feel free to send me your comments, questions, and feedback. I would love to hear from you. In the meantime, enjoy the season and continue to be merry.
